NDLEA Launches Online Portal for Visa Clearance Certificates and Drug Integrity Tests
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA)has launched a new digital system designed to simplify and speed up the process of obtaining Visa Clearance Certificates, a key travel requirement for some Nigerians heading abroad.
The platform, named the Drug Integrity Test and Visa E-Administration System (DITViCAS), was unveiled on October 21, 2025, in Abuja. It replaces the former paper-based process with a fully automated, transparent, and faster online service.
End of Manual Visa Clearance Hassles
Until now, the NDLEA visa clearance process required applicants to submit documents physically, attend in-person verifications, and wait through lengthy approval cycles. The new system eliminates those bottlenecks by allowing applicants to complete the entire procedure from anywhere, anytime.
The DITViCAS platform delivers full automation of visa clearance and drug testing, offering faster turnaround times, better record accuracy, and an end-to-end digital trail that prevents interference and delays.
Visa clearance certificates are now processed within three to seven days, depending on application volume and verification needs.
Enhanced Security and Global Verification
The new portal integrates modern verification and background-check technology to ensure that every certificate issued is genuine and traceable. The e-certification and verification system prevents falsification and gives foreign missions a reliable method to confirm the authenticity of documents submitted by Nigerian travelers.
This approach strengthens the credibility of Nigerian travel documents and enhances the country’s reputation in international visa processes.
Partnerships with Private Medical Centres
Applicants now have the option to choose from accredited private medical centres nationwide to complete their drug integrity tests. The feature offers convenience, flexibility, and shorter waiting times by allowing users to select test locations and appointment dates directly through the portal.
Part of Nigeria’s Broader Digital Transformation
The DITViCAS system is part of Nigeria’s ongoing public-service digitalization efforts. It aligns with the government’s push to modernize agencies, reduce manual paperwork, and ensure faster, more transparent citizen services.
The new process not only simplifies visa clearance for travelers but also provides embassies and employers with an easily verifiable, tamper-proof certification system.
What Travelers Should Know
- The NDLEA Visa Clearance Certificate is required by some embassies and destination countries.
- The entire process is now digital— no in-person paperwork or middlemen.
Certificates are issued electronically and verifiable online.
- Standard processing time: 3–7 days.
- Applicants must ensure all personal information matches passport details.
Final Thoughts
The NDLEA’s new online visa clearance system marks a major improvement for Nigerian travelers. By replacing manual procedures with a digital, verifiable platform, the agency has made the process faster, simpler, and more transparent.
For applicants, it means less stress and greater confidence, a smoother path to meeting visa requirements and strengthening Nigeria’s image abroad.
