The Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) has officially announced the lifting of the ban on Christian pilgrimage to Israel.
According to a statement issued by the Media and Public Relations Director of NCPC, Mr. Celestine Toruka, NCPC Executive Secretary, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, made the announcement at the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem on 1st August 2026 after assessing the security situation in the Holy Land.
“The Holy Land is peaceful. Jerusalem is at peace and will continue to be at peace. The ban on Christian pilgrimage from Nigeria to Israel is hereby lifted from today,” Bishop Adegbite declared.
The Commission explained that Nigerian pilgrims can now travel through Ben Gurion International Airport, Tel Aviv, Israel. However, Jordan has not yet been cleared for pilgrimage, as it is still considered unsafe at this time.
Bishop Adegbite also expressed confidence that the 2026 pilgrimage season would be successful, noting that previous pilgrims returned safely and encouraging Christians to prepare for the upcoming pilgrimage.
