Nigeria and St. Kitts & Nevis Sign Historic Visa-Free Agreement

In a landmark move to deepen Afro-Caribbean relations, Nigeria has officially introduced a visa-free entry policy for citizens of St. Kitts & Nevis (SKN), effective September 26, 2025.

The policy applies to holders of ordinary, official, and diplomatic passports, making St. Kitts & Nevis the first country outside Africa to enjoy such privilege with Nigeria. Until now, visa-free access to Nigeria was limited to ECOWAS citizens and select African nations like Cameroon and Chad.

What makes this agreement even more remarkable is its reciprocal nature. Nigerian citizens can now also travel to St. Kitts & Nevis visa-free. Speaking on the development, Prime Minister Terrance Drew of St. Kitts & Nevis described the deal as a “symbolic and practical step to reconnect our peoples.”

This policy is already being hailed as a game-changer for trade, tourism, cultural exchange, and investment flows between Africa and the Caribbean. Analysts believe it will not only simplify travel but also open new doors for businesses, students, and entrepreneurs across both regions.

The initiative was facilitated through the Afri-Caribbean Investment Summit (AACIS ’25) in Abuja earlier this year, led by Aquarian Consult Limited (ACL) under the leadership of Aisha Maina. The summit also produced the first-ever direct charter flight between Abuja and Basseterre, strengthening mobility and diplomatic ties.

With this historic step, Nigeria has set the stage for a new Afri-Caribbean trade corridor, bringing both continents closer than ever before.

  • 👉 For Nigerians: No visa required to enter St. Kitts & Nevis.
  • 👉 For SKN Citizens: No visa required to enter Nigeria.

A new era of Afro-Caribbean cooperation has begun.

Looking Ahead

The success of AACIS ’25 has set the stage for its second edition, scheduled for March 2026 in Abuja. With visa-free entry now in place, stakeholders are optimistic about expanded outcomes in cultural diplomacy, youth exchange, trade, and investment flows.

This bold policy underscores Nigeria’s vision: to not just talk about unity, but to live it. The Nigeria–St. Kitts partnership is proof that when we move with purpose, we can open new doors, create opportunities, and truly change lives.
